Oral Presentation Guidelines

Registration

The presenting author of the accepted abstract should register to the conference through the website (see Registration) not later than 15 September 2023.

Submission of Presentation File

The presenting author of the accepted abstract is required to submit their presentation file to the ICFAS 7 Secretariat (icfas2023@gmail.com) on or before 17 October 2023. The presentation should be saved as Microsoft PowerPoint Format (at least 2010 version) with slide numbers at the lower right corner. The Secretariat will no longer accept presentations on the day of the conference.

Mechanics for Oral Presentations

  1. Each presentation is allotted 15 minutes with a maximum of 12 minutes to discuss the highlights of their research and 3 minutes to answer the questions from the Session Chair and/or audience (Q & A). For non-competing papers, the Session Chair has the discretion to extend this to 14 min leaving 1 min for questions.  
  2. A timekeeper will be assigned to each session and will notify the presentorson the remaining time for each presentation. Notification cards will be raised when the time reaches 7 minutes (“5 minutes left”) and 10 minutes (“2 minutes left”)  for the presenter to wrap-up their presentation by then. A “Time is up” card will be raised when the time reaches 12 minutes. The 3 minutes (Q & A) will then follow shortly after each talk.
  3. The presentation should be delivered in English.
  4. Certificates of Recognition will be given to all oral presenters at the end of each session.

Additional Guidelines for the Student Oral Presentation Competition

  1. Papers for student competition are included in the Regular Sessions and must follow the guidelines, “Submission of Presentation File.”. 
  2. Each presentation is alloted 15 minutes. The presenter should only speak for 10-12 minutes and leave 3-5 minutes for questions and answers. A point deduction will be imposed for every 30 seconds of excess time.
  3. A panel of judges will be designated to evaluate the presentations. The two Best Student Oral Presenters for each category (Undergraduate/Graduate) will be declared as winners. The decision of the judges is final. 
  4. The judging criteria for the oral presentation competition is as follows:
          • Scholarly Content                                                             35%

          • Organization (logical presentation of ideas)            25%

          • Oral presentation and delivery                                      25%

          • Q&A Session (Ability to answer questions)               15%

Announcement of Winners

Winners will be announced during the Closing Ceremony on 19 October 2023.

Prizes

There will be three winners for each category who will receive the following:

  • Cash Prizes
      • Best Oral Presentation (Undergraduate Category): 1st Place (Php 6,000), 2nd Place (Php 4,000); 3rd Place (Php 2,500)
      • Best Oral Presentation (Graduate Category): 1st Place (Php 6,000), 2nd Place (Php 4,000); 3rd Place (Php 2,500)
  • Certificate of Recognition. 

Poster Presentation Guidelines

Registration

The presenting author of the accepted abstract should register to the conference through the website (see Registration) not later than 15 September 2023.

Submission of Posters

The authors of the accepted poster abstracts are required to submit their posters on site to the ICFAS 7 Secretariat starting 17 October 2023 at 1:00 o’clock in the afternoon and remove them on 19 October 2023 after the Closing Program. The poster will be made available for viewing during the two-day duration of the conference.

Mechanics

  1. The poster must have the following specifications: 48 inches high x 36 inches wide (121.9 x 91.4 cm) in portrait orientation. 
  2. The poster must include the following:
    • Title
    • Names of author(s) and their affiliations(s); Email of Presenter
    • Abstract (brief summary of objectives, methods, results, and conclusions)
    • Introduction (background, research objectives)
    • Materials and Methods
    • Results (tables, graphs, charts)
    • Conclusions / Recommendations
    • References
    • Acknowledgement
  3. The presenting author should stand with their posters during the designated time for poster sessions. 
  4. Certificates of Recognition will be given to all poster presenters at the end of the conference.

Additional Guidelines for the Student Poster Presentation Competition

  1. Papers for student competition are included in the Regular Sessions and must follow the guidelines for the submission of the posters.  
  2. A panel of judges will evaluate the posters and their decision is final. The two Best Student Poster Presenters for each category (Undergraduate/Graduate) will be declared as winners.
  3. The judging criteria for the poster presentation competition is as follows:
          • Scholarly content                                                             35%

          • Quality of poster appearance and presentation      35%

          • Overall impression and significance of research    15%

          • Q&A Session (Ability to answer questions)              15%
